Wuling’s first mass-produced Bingo EV has officially rolled off the production line in Malaysia, marking a key step forward in the brand’s its Southeast Asia-focused expansion strategy.

THE BINGO EV

Wuling Motors officially unveiled the Bingo EV in Malaysia on 20 January. The company celebrated the first Bingo unit to roll off the line.

The vehicle was assembled in Tan Chong Motors’ plant in Segambut, as part of its partnership with the Chinese automaker.

The vehicle is priced at MYR 67,800 (Pro) and MYR 72,800 (Max). The prices are below MYR 100,000 (around $36,641 AUD) . The price limit was set by the Malaysian government for completely built up (CBU) EVs.

This version of the Bingo EV has been specifically adaptedfor the Malaysian market. The model has already been localised for several regions including Central Asia, Latin America, and other Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia.

WULING AND TCM

In May last year, Wuling announced a partnership with Malaysia’s own Tan Chong Motor (TCM). In this strategic partnership, TCM will distribute Wuling vehicles nationwide and provide an aftersales network and its own Segambut plant to assemble Wuling vehicles. The Bingo was originally slated to debut in Q4 of 2025 but was finally revealed early in 2026.

“TQ Wuling reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability in delivering quality mobility solutions accessible to all Malaysians,” said TCM CEO Daniel Ho.

“Our collaboration with SGM Wuling marks a significant step in expanding TQ Wuling’s local footprint and contributing to the local economy by producing the vehicles locally here in Malaysia. Our goal is to position the TQ Wuling brand as a preferred brand for value-driven and urban drivers.”

Additionally, Wuling will be called “TQ Wuling” exclusively in Malaysia.

WULING IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

Wuling’s presence in Malaysia is part of its “Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand” integration strategy. In line with its regional strategy, Wuling used Malaysian-sourced parts and components in its supply chain. According to the company, this has made the supply chain more efficient and lessened production costs.

“SGM Wuling has always been dedicated to building high-quality practical and affordable vehicles,” said Wuling Indonesia president, Tang Wensheng.

“The partnership allows us to bring our EV technology to Malaysia with confidence. With our expertise in EVs, combined with Tan Chong Group’s strong market presence and manufacturing strength, we are excited to support Malaysia’s green mobility transition and bring sustainable driving solutions to local consumers.”
