BYD’s official Malaysian distributor, BYD Sime Motors will expand its current retail network and open a flagship store named “BYD Mansion” in 2026. 

CURRENT NETWORK 

BYD Sime Motors’ current network in Malaysia is composed of over 40 showrooms, 25 service centres, and 12 body and paint outlets. The company’s existing network is mostly placed within urban centres scattered across Malaysia’s different regions.  

As Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) adoption rises, consumer preference for BYD increases as well. Both create a need for stronger EV support and infrastructure, which BYD Sime Motors intends to address this coming year. 

THE EXPANSION 

Annual EV usage in Malaysia has increased 14-fold over the past three years. Of all the present EV brands in Malaysia, BYD has remained the country’s top-selling EV brand for three consecutive years.  

The company acquired its first 10,000 customers within 20 months in the peninsula. A year later, the EV maker acquired another 10,000 Malaysia customers. 

Now, BYD BYD Sime Motors revealed that it is targeting 30,000 customers within the year.  

“These milestones reflect the strong partnership between BYD and Sime Motors, as well as our shared commitment to raising the standards of EV ownership in Malaysia,” said BYD Malaysia managing director, Eagle Zhao.  

According to Zhao, BYD’s vast network allows the manufacturer to provide ample support to its customers throughout the lifecycle of its cars. To further this support, the company will add nine new service centres to its aftersales network, bringing their total to 34. 

“Each of the company’s newest outlets are designed to deliver a more refined showroom experience, reflecting BYD’s promise to combine advanced technology with a premium, customer-centric environment,” Zhao added. 

THE BYD MANSION 

In addition to the expansion of its showrooms and service centres, BYD Sime Motors will be opening the BYD Mansion, a flagship outlet designed to match the culture of its location in Penang. This design intends to give customers a “premium” feel while visiting the showroom. The BYD Mansion’s design concept will be applied to future showrooms as well.
