The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max, a three-row vehicle that debuted this month was awarded a 5-star safety rating by ANCAP.
This rating is largely based on tests conducted on its closely related partner model, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro. Last year, ANCAP tested the Tiggo 7 Pro, supplemented by additional pedestrian protection tests on the Tiggo 8 Pro Max. ANCAP also evaluated technical information provided by the manufacturer to ensure consistency across both models.
“Chery’s latest offering adds to their current five-star SUV lineup, with safer options for buyers,” remarked ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Hoorweg.
It scored 88 percent in Adult Occupant Protection, 87 percent in Child Occupant Protection, 79 percent in Vulnerable Road User Protection, and 86 percent in Safety Assist.
This medium SUV comes with an array of standard safety features, including dual frontal airbags, side chest-protecting, and side head-protecting airbags, and a driver knee airbag. Additionally, it features a centre airbag for enhanced side impact protection.
It also boasts advanced safety assist technologies such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and a lane support system with lane keep assist (LKA) and lane departure warning (LDW). These features contribute to the vehicle’s commendable safety performance across various assessment categories.
However, while the vehicle is equipped with three rows of seating, it lacks top-tether child restraint anchorages in the third row, making these positions unsuitable for young children.
