The Australasian Fleet Management Association (AfMA) proudly announces the launch of its inaugural Mentoring Program and is now accepting applications for interested mentors and mentees.
This pilot initiative seeks to support the professional and personal development not only of members but also the industry at large. Driven by the mission of linking people and knowledge to create outcomes, it augments AfMA’s Professional and Personal Development program.
The inspiration for an industry mentoring program came from Paul Sor National Assets Manager, Australian Red Cross, AfMA’s Fleet Manager of the Year in 2020 and the Victorian Chair of AfMA’s State Chapter Committee after a discussion with Mace Hartley, AfMA’s Executive Director about the industry’s aging population and our need to connect with the next generation of fleet professionals.
Paul and Mace agreed it wasn’t just a need to connect, but more importantly, to develop an opportunity for knowledge transfer. They also acknowledged many organisations only have one fleet manager and they operate in a tunnel without connection to peers. Then the light bulb moment, Paul said, why don’t we create a mentoring program to assist with knowledge transfer whilst connecting people across the industry, not just fleet managers but include suppliers and the entire eco system.
Almost a year later, Deb Bacon joined AfMA as its Industry Learning & Development Specialist who worked with Paul and others to bring this mentoring idea to life.
About the Program
The Program will be a formal relationship over a 10-month period lasting from September 2022 to June 2023.

If you’re interested in participating, please fill out the Mentor Application or the Mentee Application form and send it to [email protected] by 31st August 2022.
