VinFast has introduced a fleet of its electric buses to Europe at Busworld Europe 2025 in early October. The Vietnamese automaker debuted two models, the EB 8 and EB 12. This is the first time VinFast’s buses were marketed beyond Vietnam.

INTRODUCING THE BUSES

VinFast introduced its EB 8 and EB 12 models to Europe last October in Brussels, Belgium. Both models were designed to meet EU standards. Between the two, only the EB 12 has been fully homologated for UNECE and CE regulations. The EB 8, meanwhile, is still undergoing homologation from the UNECE and CE. The EB 8 will be made available after its approval. For the meantime, the EB 12 model is available to order for the European market.

According to VinFast Europe’s press release, the models were “designed for European operations, taking into account local regulations and infrastructure, from size and configuration to range and charging compatibility, to ensure a smooth integration into the market.”

While the manufacturer usually markets its buses under the name VinBus, these models will use the name VinFast instead in Europe. This decision was made to reflect VinFast’s intentions to expand its European presence .

FEATURES AND SPECS

Both models feature LFP 422kWh battery packs from CATL and Gotion. The models can be fully charged within 2-3 hours, offering a real-world range of up to 400 kilometres.

Aside from the power source, both models are also equipped with the same autonomous driving assistance systems (ADAS), such as; blind spot detection, intelligent speed assist, forward collision warning, and drowsiness detection. Passengers may enjoy onboard Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, “infotainment” systems, and kneeling suspension.

HELPING EUROPE GO GREEN

VinFast’s experience in establishing a network of electric buses in its home country helps the EV maker prepare for its transition into Europe’s public transportation sector.

“Europe shares VinFast’s vision of a green and sustainable future and the launch of our VinFast electric bus models at Busworld is a strong statement of VinFast’s long-term commitment to the region. Beyond individual electric cars, we are building a comprehensive green transformation ecosystem to make electrified transport more accessible than ever,” said VinFast Chairwoman Le Thi Thu Tuy.

According to  Patrick Oosterveld, VinFast’s Director of eBus Sales in Europe, the EB 8 and EB 12 will first be sold in the Netherlands and Belgium. Germany will follow these two countries with eventual plans France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Central Eastern Europe. They will also bring their buses to Poland, the Baltic States, Czechya, and Slovakia through their distributing partner Molivi.

Before debuting their electric buses, VinFast had previously introduced its VF 6 and VF 8 models in the region.
