Late-model Ford Territory SZ and PX Ranger vehicles have been ordered for a safety recall for a potential driveline fault.

Any Territory built from 19th September 2011 to 5th February 2013 and Ranger built from 5 November 2011 to 7 November 2012 are included in the recall which could see a possible intermittent Output Shaft Speed Sensor failure. This failure could result in unintended downshifts into first gear, causing abrupt wheel speed reduction, resulting in sliding or locking-up rear tyres until the vehicle speed slows. A possible loss of vehicle control could be a safety issue for fleet operators.

Product Safety Australia has been told by Ford Australia that vehicles should be driven cautiously and at moderate speed until the recall is complete.

Consumers will be contacted by direct mail and should contact their nearest Ford Dealer to arrange for inspection and repair work to be carried out. Ford’s Customer Relations centre can be contacted directly on 1800 503 672.
