AfMA members are advised that IHS Markit has been authorised by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) to provide a free batch processing service to help identify vehicles affected by the Takata Airbag Recall.

Driver safety is important for all drivers and should never be underestimated, and it is vital for organisations to be aware of the serious risks and responsibilities associated with the Takata Airbag Recall. The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries is supporting this offer to ensure as many vehicles as possible are identified and appropriate action is taken.

The service simply requires an Excel or CSV file of Registration Plate and State and or VIN’s to be sent to IHS Markit and they will check the vehicle details and advise of any vehicles affected by the Takata Airbag Recall of your entire fleet of vehicles at no cost.

There is currently a national advertising program to promote the newly created www.ismyairbagsafe.com.au website. We encourage you to check your vehicles by using this website.

However, if you need a quick response to cover larger numbers of fleet vehicles, IHS Markit will check them quickly by batch processing. This service will allow you to promptly check the recall status of large numbers of vehicles.

If the vehicle is identified as being affected by the recall, you will need to communicate with the vehicle user and follow the advice on the nominated brand’s website.

Importantly, if incorrect or invalid information is mistakenly provided, IHS Markit will identify those vehicles for further investigation. AfMA encourages you to take up this free service to ensure you have taken every precaution to identify potentially affected vehicles.
