The Jetour T2 has secured a 5-star rating in a safety assessment performed by the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

Overall score

Jetour’s newest off-road vehicle, the T2, scored 86.50 points under the ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol. ASEAN NCAP tested a China built variant intended for several Southeast Asian countries (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand). A Malaysian-built variant is also produced for the same markets.

Score breakdown

The following are the Jetour T2’s scores in each assessment category:

  • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 37.17 / 40.00 points
  • Child Occupant Protection (COP): 15.94 / 20.00 points
  • Safety Assist (SA): 17.14 / 20.00 points
  • Motorcyclist Safety (MS): 16.25 / 20.00 points

Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)

The AOP category is assessed based on a frontal impact test, side impact test, and a fitment rating system for evaluating head protection technology. During these tests, two crash test dummies are placed in the front compartment of the vehicle; one in the driver’s seat and another in the front passenger seat.

During the frontal impact test, the driver dummy received good protection in the head and upper leg areas. It received adequate protection in its chest, lower right, and feet area. It received the weakest protection (“marginal”) in its lower left leg area.

The side impact test showed good overall protection and ASEAN NCAP awarded the T2’s head protection technology 8 points.

Child Occupant Protection (COP)

The ASEAN NCAP tested the installation of 11 child seat models during the assessment. Almost all of the models passed the fitment test for the left and right rear passenger seats except for the Peg-Perego Primo Viaggo SL, which only fit in the centre rear seat.

Safety Assist (SA)

The Jetour T2 is equipped with all of the ASEAN NCAP’s recommended features, though availability varies.

The following features are equipped on all variants:

  • Anti-lock Braking System
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Seatbelt Reminders for
  • Driver
  • Front Passenger
  • Rear Passengers
  • Rear Seat Occupant Detection

The following are available as optional features:

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking:
  • City
  • Inter-Urban
  • Pedestrian
  • Advanced Safety Assist Technologies:
  • Lane Departure Warning System
  • Forward Collision Warning System
  • Lane Keep Assist

The ASEAN NCAP tested the functionality of the T2’s Autonomous Emergency Braking system for City (car-to-car rear stationary) and Inter-Urban (car-to-car rear moving). The association confirmed that the features operated successfully under the ASEAN NCAP’s criteria.

Motorcyclist Safety (MS)

In this category, the ASEAN NCAP recommends a set of safety features that may or may not be available per vehicle. For the Jetour T2, the following features were available:

  • Blind Spot Detection – Standard on all variants
  • Nearside
  • Offside
  • Auto High Beam – Available as optional
  • Pedestrian Protection – Standard on all variants
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking for Motorcycles – Available as optional

Among the recommended features, only Advanced Rear Visualisation was not available.

Beginning 2017, ASEAN NCAP also evaluates each vehicle’s Blind Spot Detection technology under its MS category. The ASEAN NCAP confirmed that the Jetour T2’s Blind Spot Detection is fitted on both sides and performed successfully according to their criteria.
