Extreme E has confirmed it will return for one last race before closing its chapter in electric off-road racing. The event, called the “Final Lap,” will take place on 4 to 5 October 2025.

Launched in 2021, the series has showcased electric racing in remote and tough landscapes. Its goal has been to raise awareness of climate change while testing new technologies and sustainability practices.

Saudi Arabia has played a central role from the beginning, hosting the first Desert X Prix and continuing to support the series for five seasons through the Saudi Motorsport Company, under the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation.

Looking Ahead to Extreme H

Organisers say the Final Lap will not only look back on what has been achieved but will also open the way for Extreme H, the first hydrogen-powered off-road championship.

“The Final Lap will be an opportunity to celebrate everything Extreme E has achieved, at the same time setting the next frontier for Extreme H, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s ambition to be the hub for innovative, world-class motorsport and a leader in shaping a sustainable future,” Extreme E organisers said in a press release.

“This transition reflects Extreme E’s vision to use sport as a platform for innovation, awareness, and action. While the cars and energy sources may evolve, the commitment to purposeful racing remains unchanged.”

Further details about the race schedule, teams, and drivers are expected to be announced soon. For updates, visit the Extreme E website.
