Extreme E Island X-Prix Returns to Sardinia

Extreme E headed back to Sardinia for Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2023 season. The Island X Prix held on July 8 to 9, which marked the championship’s return to the Italian island for a third time, was co-organised and coordinated by the Automobile Club d’Italia and Regione Sardegna.

The electric off-road racing series took place in the Italian Army Training area at Capo Teulada in Sulcis-Iglesiente, the route provided a challenging 3-kilometre route featuring rocks, bushes, and dried riverbeds cracked from the intense heat.

Island X Prix Winners

Rosberg X Racing (RXR) took the win in Rounds 5 and 6 of Extreme E Season 3. Drivers Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky and Johan Kristoffersson took the top step of the podium, becoming the first team to do so in the new double-header format of the race.

This back-to-back win led the team to just four points off the lead as we pass the halfway point of the season.

The ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team were the runners up which allowed them to retain the lead at the top of the championship standings with 109 points

Andretti Altawkilat Extreme E claimed the final spot on the podium after an impressive overtaking maneuver by Catie Munnings in the closing stages, snatching third place from No.99 GMC HUMMER EV Chip Ganassi Racing.

Securing the fourth and fifth positions were JBXE, represented by Andreas Bakkerud and Hedda Hosås, who made it to their first Grand Final of the 2023 season.

In the Redemption Race, Klara Andersson and the returning champion Sébastien Loeb emerged as the winners, earning a crucial eight points from today’s racing. This was a particularly challenging double-header for ABT CUPRA XE.
