A new ultra-rapid charging station for electric vehicles has opened in Horsham, connecting the Western Highway route between Melbourne to Adelaide.
The Horsham site completes the rollout of seven ultra-rapid charging stations operated by electric vehicle charging network, Chargefox.
“We have funded the construction of Australia’s fastest electric vehicle charging stations. This investment supports the uptake of electric vehicles, improves air quality and positions us to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050,” Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio
“Chargefox’s seven stations across Victoria will help build confidence to make the move to sustainable vehicles and power our electric future.”
Chargefox received $3 million from the Victorian Government to develop a network of seven sites across regional Victoria.
Ultra-rapid Chargefox sites are now operating at Airport West, Euroa, Barnawartha North, Moe, Torquay, Ballarat and Horsham.
Chargefox has matched the Government’s funding to build the stations, which deliver approximately 400 kilometre in range from 15 minutes of charging, and source electricity from 100 per cent renewable energy.
Electric vehicle owners can now charge their vehicles at over 100 Chargefox sites across Victoria with the seven ultra-rapid Chargefox sites offering the fastest chargers in Australia.
“We’re proud to have worked with the Victorian Government to open our seventh Victorian ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging station at Horsham, which is powered by 100 per cent renewable energy and connects with Chargefox stations in South Australia,” Marty Andrews, Chargefox CEO.
