We’re thrilled to announce the launch of AfMA’s Women in Fleet Management (WIFM) Committee – a powerful step towards greater gender diversity, equity, and inclusion in the fleet and automotive industries.

Guided by the WIFM Commitee’s vision to Elevate Women in the Fleet and Automotive Professions and mission to stimulate, sustain, and nurture gender diversity outcomes by linking Women and Knowledge, this committee is dedicated to driving meaningful change by attracting and developing women in the industry.

On 3 December 2024, the inaugural meeting of the WIFM Committee brought together an exceptional group of industry leaders who are ready to champion these goals:

  • Drew Schnehage – WIFM Chairwoman and CEO, Innovation Group Australia
  • Debbie Rumble – Senior Manager, Fleet Operations, NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure
  • Sonja Fleming – General Manager, Thyme Fleet
  • Shanna Cova – Global Business Development Manager, Geotab
  • Aleta Gunn – Fleet Coordinator, City of Adelaide
  • Soreya Ahmet – Senior Manager, GML Fleet Management
  • Deb Bacon – Industry Learning & Development Specialist, AfMA

This committee builds on the groundwork laid by the dedicated members of AfMA’s WIFM Taskforce, established earlier this year. To those who contributed their time, expertise, and passion – thank you for paving the way. Your efforts have been instrumental in making this vision a reality.

A special acknowledgment goes to the incredible individuals who were part of the taskforce, including Tania Wearing, Soreya Ahmet, Leanne Griffith, Catherine Morrison, Kristy Tinnion, Agnès McDermott, Colin Potts, Sherry Calkins, Zaandra Brightwell, Debbie Rumble, Zoe Hugginson, Kirsty Adrichem, Fiona King, Edwina Hausmann, Michelle Goss, Cary Lo, Tom Haughey, Drew Schnehage, Courtney South, Sonja Fleming, Michael Mills, Aleta Gunn, Kara Wise, Elise McLellan, Enola Antolini, and Shanna Cova.

What’s next?

In 2025, AfMA’s WIFM Committee will deliver a range of exciting initiatives designed to foster development, mentorship, and opportunities for women in the fleet and automotive professions.

Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive future for the industry. Stay tuned for updates and ways to get involved – this is just the beginning!
