The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro has received a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). The rating is based on local crash avoidance testing and data from the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, a related model tested by ANCAP in late 2023. It achieved the following scores across the four key safety assessment areas:

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 88%
  • Child Occupant Protection: 87%
  • Vulnerable Road User Protection: 79%
  • Safety Assist: 85%

Advanced Safety Features

The Tiggo 4 Pro is equipped with a suite of airbags, including dual frontal, side chest-protecting, side head-protecting, and a centre airbag designed to reduce injury in side-impact collisions. Structurally, the vehicle provides the same level of occupant protection as the Tiggo 7 Pro, reinforcing its commitment to safety.

The model also includes an updated advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), with strong results in collision avoidance tests. ANCAP’s evaluation of the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system found it performed well across multiple scenarios, including AEB Junction and AEB Crossing. The lane support system also received full marks for its ability to keep the vehicle safely within its lane.

Software Update for Earlier Models

While the five-star safety rating applies to Tiggo 4 Pro models built from 1 November 2024, earlier models require a software update to meet Australian Design Rule 98/01 for AEB compliance. Owners of affected vehicles should contact their nearest Chery dealership for a free update to ensure compliance with the latest safety regulations.

Chery Motor Australia has confirmed that the vehicles tested by ANCAP were not affected by this software issue. Once rectified, earlier Tiggo 4 Pro models will also qualify for the five-star safety rating.
