Brimbank Council has moved to become 100% carbon neutral in its operations by 2030 in its Climate Emergency Plan.

The council aims to adopt a fully electric vehicle fleet by this time.

Brimbank’s new Mayor Cr Bruce Lancashire has committed to EVs by choosing a Hyundai IONIQ fully electric car as his mayoral vehicle.

“I’m pleased to be driving an electric vehicle because the way we travel around the planet needs to change if we are going to save it,” Mayor Lancashire said.

“Electric vehicles can be run clean, green, and very cheap compared with conventional petrol cars that run on fossil fuels.

“And it’s not just the vehicles we drive, but walking, cycling, catching public transport where we can reduce air pollution, improves health, and helps transition our community toward a zero emissions future.”
