AGL has continued its adoption of low-emission vehicles by procuring 32 new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV hybrid SUVs.
The energy retailer adds the fleet of PHEVs to its numerous BMW i3s (and four already-purchased Outlander 
PHEVs) which have been markedly noticeable on public roads.
The publicity exercise was held in Canberra as part of the launch of the EV Council and a $400,000 federal grant to it and member organisation ClimateWorks to promote the benefits of electric vehicles.
The independent advocate body was established in 2016 as part of the ACT EV Council and affiliated groups, and is made up of representatives from academia, industry and corporate sectors such as AGL, whose CEO Andrew Vesey was present for the launch.
Automotive interests include, besides Hyundai and Mitsubishi, Tesla, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, Audi and Volkswagen/Skoda. Transgrid, JetCharge, Synergy and RACV are also members.
Josh Frydenberg, Federal Energy and Environment Minister, and Paul Fletcher, Minister for Urban Infrastructure were also present for the launch. Tesla’s Model X and S, Hyundai’s Ionic (pictured at the 2017 Fleet Conference & Exhibition), BMW’s i3 and i8, the Nissan LEAF and Audi e-Tron were also on display.
