The Australasian Fleet Management Association (AfMA) is proud to welcome Auckland-based Peter Adams as the New Zealand Chapter Committee Chair.  With decades of hands-on experience in the motor industry and a career that spans technical craftsmanship, corporate leadership, and digital innovation, Peter brings practical knowledge and fresh perspective to our growing NZ network.

Peter’s journey began as an apprentice panel beater and coach builder, developing an early love for the challenge of restoring accident-damaged vehicles others believed were beyond repair. After achieving advanced trade certification and running a rural South Island panel and paint shop, he shifted gears to take on a national role in the insurance sector.

As National Motor Manager for New Zealand’s largest loss adjusting company, Peter led a team across 16 offices, driving innovation in vehicle claims management. Notably, he introduced ISO standards to the business, developed a national reporting system, and pioneered New Zealand’s first online tender system for total loss vehicle sales.

Peter’s entrepreneurial spirit saw him launch Sheffield Fox International, where he delivered claims management solutions in over 18 international jurisdictions. Today, his team continues to manage complex fleet claims across Australia, the Pacific, and beyond, utilising smart systems and AI-driven technology. His CMS platform and OnRequest repair network continue to be essential tools for reducing vehicle downtime and enhancing end-of-lease outcomes for fleets.

Peter’s work is driven by a simple belief in staying ahead by moving with the times. His team’s current developments include a smartphone app for remote vehicle inspections, and show his smart, future-focused take on personal mobility and fleet care. As he often tells clients, “Dents breed with scratches if left unattended.”

Peter’s unique ability to connect real-world repair knowledge with forward-looking claims technology makes him an exciting addition to AfMA’s New Zealand leadership. His contributions will help shape the future of fleet and mobility management not just locally, but across the wider region.

Please join us in welcoming Peter Adams to the AfMA NZ Chapter Committee!
