China’s first 5-star ANCAP safety-rated automotive brand LDV has ticked over 20,000 vehicle sales in Australia, following a record-breaking 1,052 units sold in June.
The June result is a significant step up from the previous record month (803 in June 2019) and marks the coming of age for the LDV brand in Australia, with a national footprint of 20,810 vehicles (June 2020 YTD), demonstrating the strength of an ever-growing model range and the recognition by hard-working Australians of the strong, value-for-money product offer.
“Today really does mark a coming of age for the LDV brand here in Australia,” says Dinesh Chinnappa, General Manager, LDV Automotive.
“Over 20,000 hard-working Australians have now said “It’s LDV for me” and our record-breaking June 1,052 result is testament to the strength of our brand and dedicated dealer network. In fact, LDV dealers could have exceeded this number by a considerable margin had it not been for the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.”
Joanne Purnell picked up the 20,000th LDV – a D90 Executive 4WD diesel – from Mentone LDV, Victoria, with Dealer Principal Cameron Semark ensuring the vehicle handover marked the momentous milestone.
“We’re delighted to have delivered the 20,000th LDV in Australia,” said Semark. “The LDV brand has gone from strength-to-strength over the last few years, and we look forward to bringing more people into this wonderful brand.”
The D90 features a new bi-turbo 160kW diesel engine, the first in-house designed unit from the SAIC Motor corporation. With class-leading power outputs and a combined fuel consumption of just 9.1L/100km, the D90 also features 7 full-size seats, 4WD with Terrain Selection and Apple CarPlay, making it the ideal transport for Australian families.
“Our main reasons for choosing the D90 were the towing capacity and safety features,” said Joanne. “It’s also value-for-money, offering many creature comforts at a reasonable price compared with other brands.”
