ZEEKR was awarded its first 5-star safety rating for its ZEEKR X model in early November.
The ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) assessed ZEEKR’s first entry into its safety program, the ZEEKR X. The vehicle received an overall weighted score of 94.64 points, earning a 5-star rating.
OVERVIEW
ASEAN NCAP assessed a standard variant of the ZEEKR X, manufactured in China. Though all variants will be made in China, the tested model will be sold to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The ZEEKR X scored the following based on ASEAN NCAP’s four categories:
- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 40.00 / 40.00 points
- Child Occupant Protection (COP): 17.14 / 20.00 points
- Safety Assist (SA): 20.00 / 20.00 points
- Motorcyclist Safety (MS): 17.50 / 20.00 points
RESULTS
Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)
For the AOP category, ASEAN NCAP found that the ZEEKR X remained stable throughout its frontal impact test. Both driver and passenger crash test dummies received good protection in all areas, from head to feet. The side impact test displayed the same results, showing good protection all around in case of impact.
The ZEEKR X is equipped with airbags for the driver and passenger, as well as on the sides, centre, and curtains of the vehicle. Seatbelt retractor pre-tensioners and load limiters are available for both driver and passenger. These safety features are standard with all variants of the ZEEKR X.
Child Occupant Protection (COP)
For the COP category, ASEAN NCAP successfully installed all its test child seats in the left and right seats of the back row. The centre seat of the 2nd row allowed only two successful installations, while 4 other seats showed critical safety problems. Meanwhile, another 5 child seat models were not compatible with the centre seat. Only 3 child seat models were successfully installed in the front passenger seat, while the rest were incompatible.
Safety Assist (SA)
Under the SA category, the ZEEKR was shown to have all recommended safety features installed as standard on all variants. This includes; Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control, Seatbelt Reminders (Driver, Front and Rear Passengers), Rear Seat Occupant Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and advanced safety assist technologies such as Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Collision Warning System, and Lane Keep Assist.
Additionally, ASEAN NCAP tested ZEEKR X’s AEB based on its 2021-2025 protocol. The results showed that model’s AEB “functioned according to ASEAN NCAP requirements.”
Motorcyclist Safety (MS)
The ZEEKR X is also equipped with motorcyclist safety features such as nearside and offside Blind Spot Detection (BSD) as standard on all variants. Rear Visualisation is not available but Auto High Beam and Pedestrian protection were installed as standard. Upon assessment of the model’s AEB, ASEAN NCAP found that this feature meets its requirements.
