PROCEDURE

All company transportation requirements will be matched by a ‘fit for purpose’ evaluation which will identify the nature of the task and matched to an appropriate vehicle. See separate ‘fit for purpose’ procedure.

REQUESTS FOR NEW PERSONNEL

MANUAL OF FLEET MANAGEMENT

REQUESTS FOR NEW PERSONNEL

All requests for new personnel will identify a job description for that position which will include the type of driving on company business required by the position and the appropriate license requirements.

It will also identify whether the employee is:

  • Required to drive a tool of trade (company supplied) vehicle which is garaged overnight at the company premises;
  • Required to drive a tool of trade vehicle (company supplied) which the employee is authorised to take home each day (see company vehicle assignment procedure);
  • Assigned a company provided vehicle used mainly for private activities with occasional business usage (see company vehicle assignment procedure);
  • Qualifies for a Novated Lease option. (See Novated Lease procedure).

CHANGES IN RESPONSIBILITY / POSITION

If an employee changes responsibilities or takes on additional functions and there is no generic job description, one should be created. As with new employees, it should identify whether or not the position requires driving a company supplied vehicle or driving on the company’s behalf and the level of licence required.
