Electric vehicle drivers in New South Wales now have a new tool to plan trips and make better use of charging time, with the launch of an interactive map that connects charging locations with nearby destinations.

Known as EVenturemap, the platform combines EV charger locations with local tourism information, allowing drivers to find places to eat, shop or visit while their vehicle charges.

Turning charging stops into travel opportunities

The tool enables users to search for charging stations by destination, then access nearby points of interest within walking distance. Drivers can scan a QR code at participating chargers or use GPS through the website to view local options.

Central NSW Joint Organisation Chair Kevin Beatty said the platform is designed to improve the EV travel experience.

“EVenturemap’s key benefit for EV drivers is to make the most of their time at every charging stop and it promotes spontaneous tourism. It’s easy-to-use, free and helps motorists explore NSW more sustainably,” he said.

“We hope EVenturemap empowers more people to travel and plan their trips with confidence and ease, whether they’re a tourist, a daily commuter, or a business traveller.”

Growing EV network supports rollout

The map includes more than 2,000 charging stations across NSW, with data drawn from government, tourism and local council sources and updated regularly.

Developed through the Joint Organisation Net Zero Accelerator (JONZA) Program, the platform is funded by the NSW Government and delivered in partnership with regional councils.

While designed for EV drivers, the tool is open to all users, offering broader access to local information at charging locations.
