BYD has retained its position as Singapore’s best-selling car brand for a second consecutive year. selling more than 11,000 units in 2025.

Year-end data revealed that BYD sold 11,184 new EVs for the year 2025, up 80.6 per cent on the previous year. This figure also includes sales from BYD’s luxury arm, Denza. All in all, 52,678 units were sold in 2025, with BYD accounting for more than 20 per cent of year-end sales.
“BYD is proud to be Singapore’s best-selling car brand in 2025 – a milestone powered by the trust of our customers and the dedication of every teammate behind the scenes,” wrote the EV giant on its Instagram page.
As early as October last year, BYD dominated sales, taking up 19.7 per cent market share across the first nine months of 2025.
For December alone, BYD sold 1,561 units and acquired 24.4 per cent market share. According to an article by Channel News Asia, BYD’s sales boom can be linked to their competitive prices and diverse model options for consumers to choose from.
SINGAPORE’S 2025 NEW CAR SALES
EV sales in general broke a new record last year, comprising 45 per cent of new car sales – compared to 34 per cent in 2024. BYD’s growth has been particularly strong, with its annual sales up 337 per cent compared with 2023.
With BYD pulling far ahead, Toyota’s year-end sales came to 7,466 units sold. The Japanese carmaker acquired 14.2 per cent of the overall market in 2025. In December, its sales came closer to BYD’s with 1,024 units sold and 16 per cent market share acquired.
In December, BMW sold only 479 new vehicles, acquiring 7.5 per cent of the market. Overall, the brand ranked third overall in year-end sales, amounting to 5,091 units and 9.7 per cent market share acquired.
Following its fellow German carmaker is Mercedes-Benz with 416 units sold and 6.5 per cent market share acquired in December. Its year-end sales came to 4,872 units sold overall and 9.2 per cent market share acquired.
Honda also took 9.2 per cent of the overall market in 2025, selling 4,845 vehicles. For the month of December, the brand sold 578 vehicles and acquired 9 per cent of the market share.
BYD rival Tesla sold 309 vehicles in December and acquired 4.8 per cent of the market. Overall sales in 2025 for the American EV maker came to 3,476 units with 6.6 per cent of total market share .
Korean carmaker Hyundai sold 124 units in December, bringing their year-end tally to 1,459 units. Hyundai acquired 1.9 per cent of the market in December and 2.8 per cent for the whole of 2025.
Mazda fared slightly better in December, selling 134 units and acquiring 2.1 per cent market share. However, its sales for 2025 came to 1,242 units and only 2.4 per cent market share.
Another Korean car brand, Kia, entered Singapore’s top 10 for the year. In December, the brand sold 123 units and acquired 1.9 per cent of the market. Overall, Kia sold 1,209 new cars in 2025 with 2.3 per cent market share.
Lastly, Nissan claimed the 10th spot with 1,145 vehicles sold and a 2.2 per cent market share in 2025. In December alone, the brand sold 157 units and achieved a 2.5 per cent market share.
