The Audi Q6 e-tron has officially received a 5-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). This rating applies to all Q6 e-tron variants and is valid until December 2030.
The Q6 e-tron was introduced in New Zealand in November 2024 and arrived in Australia in January 2025. The rating is valid until December 2030.
High Scores in Safety Tests
The luxury SUV performed strongly across four key safety categories in ANCAP’s assessment. It received a 91 per cent for Adult Occupant Protection, which translates to 36.57 out of 40 points. This high score reflects the vehicle’s ability to protect adult passengers during frontal, side, and rear-end collisions.
It also performed well in protecting younger passengers. It earned an 87 per cent rating for Child Occupant Protection, or 42.87 out of 49 points. This category measures the safety of child seats, the strength of the vehicle’s shell, and the ability to prevent child injuries during crashes.
For Vulnerable Road User Protection, which focuses on protecting pedestrians and cyclists, the Q6 e-tron received an 81 per cent score (51.51 out of 63 points). It showed the effectiveness of the car’s autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system, which can detect pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles to prevent collisions.
In terms of Safety Assist features, the Q6 e-tron achieved 82 per cent (14.91 out of 18 points). This score represents the vehicle’s ability to prevent accidents through driver assistance technologies such as automatic braking, lane support systems, and speed assistance.
Standard Safety Features
The Audi Q6 e-tron comes standard with a range of advanced safety features across all variants. These include dual frontal, side chest-protecting, and side head-protecting airbags, as well as a centre airbag that protects front-seat passengers in the event of a side-impact crash.
The vehicle is also equipped with AEB, which can detect other cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and even obstacles when reversing. It also includes AEB Junction Assist, which helps prevent collisions at intersections. It also has AEB Backover Protection which detects objects or pedestrians behind the vehicle.
Additionally, the Q6 e-tron has lane support systems (LSS), including lane keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW), and emergency lane keeping (ELK). These systems help drivers stay within their lanes and avoid unintentional drifting.
Another key feature is the speed assistance system (SAS), which uses road sign recognition technology to help drivers maintain the legal speed limit. This system can reduce the risk of speeding-related accidents.
A Reliable Option for Safety
With its combination of advanced driver assistance features, high crash-test scores, and passenger protection, the Audi Q6 e-tron sets a high standard for electric SUVs. The 5-star ANCAP rating gives potential buyers peace of mind, knowing they are purchasing a vehicle that meets strict safety requirements.
