China-based map service AMAP has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Tuxuri Sdn. Bhd to expand geospatial intelligence in Southeast Asia.

Creating space

Multinational Alibaba’s location services arm, AMAP, signed a strategic partnership agreement with Malaysian company Tuxuri Sdn. Bhd. The partnership aims to expand and develop geospatial intelligence within Malaysia and other ASEAN markets.

Tuxuri Sdn. Bhd is a company that specialises in geospatial technology. Its agreement with AMAP involves developing location and computing services for vehicles and machines, enabling physical environments to be translated into data. According to Tuxuri, the agreement also intends to advance spatial intelligence solutions for “automotive, mobility, logistics, and connected vehicle use cases.”

This partnership may support the development of smart solutions for Malaysia’s local automotive and mobility industries.

The agreement was signed during the Global Automotive & Technology Expo (GATE) in Malaysia on 28 August.

Individual contributions

The partnership will leverage AMAP’s standard location services, including the platform’s global maps, navigation, geocoding, and positioning alongside Tuxuri’s TuxGeo+ platform and familiarity with the Malaysian market.

This agreement is meant to bolster AMAP’s global expansion for spatial intelligence and location-based solutions. It also intends to invest in Malaysia’s spatial intelligence services ecosystem with the local market. AMAP will also explore similar opportunities in other markets.
