Fleet managers now have the ability to remotely control essential functions of vehicles through a new Remote Vehicle Command Operation solution. This system allows managers to lock and unlock doors, start and stop engines, and even operate windows from a distance, designed to make fleet management more efficient.
Guidepoint Systems, working in partnership with Mobilisights, developed the solution to support industries heavily dependent on fleet vehicles, such as car rental services, carsharing programs, and loaner fleets. With these remote capabilities, fleet managers can streamline operations, reduce manual labour, and improve vehicle self-checkout procedures.
According to Samuel Spencer, CEO of Guidepoint Systems, the needs of fleet managers have evolved.
“Managers are no longer just looking for data—they want automated tools that help resolve issues before they impact vehicle performance,” Spencer said.
One example of this functionality is the ability to remotely start a vehicle to recharge a low battery, which can help prevent costly downtime.
The solution is available across 14 Stellantis brands and more than 80 vehicle models, both new and compatible pre-owned. It allows fleet operators to remotely monitor vehicle status, schedule preventative maintenance, and address potential issues. These remote features aim to reduce fleet management costs and minimise the time vehicles spend out of service, according to Spencer.
Aditya (Eddie) Nath, Guidepoint’s Head of North American Sales, highlighted that the system also enhances workflow efficiency.
“This new remote solution provides fleet managers with better performance and more efficient workflows, particularly when it comes to telematics services,” Nath said.
By integrating artificial intelligence with real-time data and remote operational control, this technology meets the growing demand for smarter, more efficient fleet management within the automotive industry.
