New Zealand has recently unveiled its first fully electric ute, the LDV EV T60.
Distributed by Great Lakes Motor Distributions (GLMD), the EV T60 will be a rear-wheel drive vehicle powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor. This is paired with an 88.5kWh battery that is DC fast charging capable, delivering 130kW/310Nm and a WLTP driving range of 325km range. It also has a tow rating of up to 1,000 kg.
The exteriors will feature 245/70R16HT alloy wheels LED DRL and high brake lights, and a stainless-steel anti-rolling frame.
Its safety features include a reversing camera and radar, anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control, and electronic brakeforce distribution. It also boasts of passenger and driver airbags, three-point seatbelts, driver seatbelt reminders, four wheel disc brakes, electric side mirrors, and rear window defrost.
According to reports, production of the right-hand drive EV T60 is set to start in September with deliveries expected to arrive in summer of 2022.
Pricing is also yet to be confirmed but according to the brand, it is hoping to keep prices under the NZD $80,000 threshold for the New Zealand government’s Clean Car Discount. This will entitle buyers to an $8,625 rebate after purchase.
LDV is now taking pre-orders on their website for a fully refundable deposit of $1000.
