Today marks a special time in our industry as we gather for the first-ever global World EV Day.
World EV Day is a global movement, a day of celebration of e-mobility, and a day to shift the transition to sustainable transport with consumer, business and policy outcomes.
Current and prospective drivers of EVs, alongside local transport authorities and fleet operators, will be encouraged to recognise the crucial role which they play in driving the shift to sustainable road transport and a zero-emission future for all.
“As the peak industry body for the fleet industry, AfMA is committed to promoting sustainable vehicle solutions that benefit our members and the public at large,” Executive Director Mace Hartley said.
“Events such as the inaugural World EV Day are an important step towards building industry and government awareness, particularly in Australia where we have typically been slow to act.”
In its inaugural year, 2020, World EV Day is a largely social media led campaign to engage consumers around the sustainability benefits of EVs. Many organisations are running in-person and remote events right around Australia, of which you’re encouraged to take part.
“The variety of EV vehicles within Australia is rapidly expanding and it’s exciting to see models such as the Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Ioniq, Nissan Leaf, Renault Kangoo, Mini Electric, Jaguar I-Pace, Mercedes eq7 and Audi e-tron make genuine in-roads alongside the Tesla range to provide fleet buyers improved choice when selecting their next purchase”
