Seven professional racing and rally drivers have been named as ambassadors for the FIA Smart Driving Challenge (FIA SDC). This is a global initiative encouraging safer and more sustainable driving.
The newly appointed FIA SDC ambassadors are Dania Akeel (W2RC), Roman Bilinski (FIA F3), Maro Engel (FIA GT World Cup, DTM), Taylor Gill (JWRC), Romet Jürgenson (WRC2), Aliyyah Koloc (W2RC), and Yifei Ye (WEC). These accomplished drivers will help promote the importance of responsible driving and encourage users to join the FIA SDC community.
“We’re delighted that such well-known motor sport ambassadors have come on board for this seventh season to build on the program’s positive momentum and further inspire safe, sustainable behaviors among drivers around the world,” said Chief Business Officer and Deputy CEO at Greater Than, Johanna Forseke.
Participants can now select their favourite ambassador’s team within the FIA SDC app and access exclusive content. The challenge is open to all drivers, regardless of their location or car type.
Making a Difference Anywhere in the World
The FIA SDC, powered by AI technology from Swedish company Greater Than, helps everyday drivers improve their skills. It provides real-time feedback, tips, and performance scores. Last year, participants in the challenge reduced their fuel or battery consumption by an average of 9%.
Furthermore, during last season’s final, the top two drivers successfully lowered their crash risk by nearly two-thirds through careful and responsible driving.
The FIA SDC has also played a role in global climate discussions. The technology had been showcased at the United Nations’ COP28 and COP29 conferences.
“”We believe that every driver can make a difference – whether they’re a world championship contender on their way to the track, or a commuter heading home. We hope that users download this app, join a team, and help us drive this movement.” said Willem Groenewald, FIA Secretary General for Automobile Mobility.
The 2024 FIA Smart Driving Challenge begins on 1st April. To get involved, drivers can download the FIA SDC app to compete for the world’s smartest driver title.
